Dong Tai communal house in Thong Kenh commune (Gia Loc, Hai Duong) although the back palace is heavily damaged, the communal house still retains many unique architectural features from the Nguyen Dynasty.
According to the village elders, Dong Tai communal house was built since the village was founded. In 1932, under King Bao Dai, the building was extensively renovated. Since then, the main communal house has basically retained its original architecture.The ancient Dong Tai communal house was built in the Tam-shaped architectural style, but now the communal house is damaged in many parts, so only the main communal house remains. Dong Tai Communal House is a place to worship the three village guardian spirits.Right in the middle of the shrine is an ancient epitaph praising the beauty of Dong Tai communal house.Up to now, the entire ironwood column is still well preserved.The ancient carvings following the lotus-shaped structure have remained intact since the Nguyen Dynasty until now.Dong Tai Communal House still preserves royal decrees from each period.The royal decrees are all carefully preserved so that the handwriting remains intact and has not been damaged by the traces of time.The royal decrees were photographed and kept in a closed cabinet for people to admire.The curved roof of the communal house still retains the unique architectural features from the Nguyen Dynasty in the style of a flowing roof.Those who donated wood to build the communal house are engraved on the main pillars of the communal house.LDong Tai communal house festival is held from February 10 to 12 (lunar calendar). The unique feature of the communal house is the Giao Cha procession between Dong Tai and Dong Duc villages. Currently, the communal house still preserves many valuable historical and artistic artifacts from the Nguyen Dynasty such as: Long Dinh, Kham, Ngon, Vong door, Dai Tu, Scroll, Sword... In the later years of resistance, Dong Tai communal house was the place associated with many important historical events of the locality and the province. In April 1995, Dong Tai communal house was recognized as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
