In Hai Duong, pink eye is spreading rapidly, forcing many people to seek medical treatment.
From September 18-21, on average, Hai Duong Eye and Dermatology Hospital received about 100 patients per day for examination and treatment, of which 40 people had conjunctivitis (pink eye), an increase of 3-4 times compared to the beginning of September. Both adults and children suffered from this disease, but children accounted for a higher proportion.
The district health center and many eye clinics in the province have also recorded the highest number of patients with pink eye since the beginning of the year. Many people in the community have pink eye but have not sought medical treatment and instead buy medicine to treat it at home. Doctors say the pink eye epidemic in Hai Duong is at its peak.
Dr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Deputy Director of Hai Duong Eye and Dermatology Hospital, noted that people with pink eye should go to a medical facility for examination and treatment advice. Arbitrarily buying oral medications and eye drops to treat at home without consulting a doctor can make the disease take longer to heal and also leave pseudomembranous scars that cause vision loss.
