September 2 is the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, stipulated in the Constitution since 1992, taking the date of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945.
On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at the historic Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It has been 75 years since then.
Under the leadership of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people rose up to fight and defeat many foreign invaders. These were the uprising to regain power from the fascists, the two resistance wars against colonial rule, imperialist invasion and intervention, and the border protection wars against expansionist gangs and genocide.
Also under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people have fought and defeated many internal invaders. These are feudalism, ignorance, hunger, corruption... and achieved great achievements in the Doi Moi process, contributing to making our country, our people, and our country famous in the international arena.
As poet Nguyen Khoa Diem wrote:
However, Vietnam has not only existed for the past 75 years. Many generations of Vietnamese people - through "thousands of years", have built and preserved this country. From the time of the legendary Hung Kings to the Dinh, Le, Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen dynasties... until today, through many ups and downs, heroic and tragic events, many dynasties and institutions in Vietnam have changed, but Vietnam, with its complete sovereignty over mountains - rivers, seas - sky, culture - beliefs, has always stood tall in the "eternal" arms of the People.
The country always belongs to the people!
September 2, 1945 is a brilliant milestone in the history of Vietnam. The country entered a new era with the Democratic Republic: Independence and Freedom. The Communist Party of Vietnam was chosen by the People as the only political force to lead the whole country and voluntarily followed that leadership to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The people are willing to follow the Party with all their hearts.
But the Country always belongs to the People.
The People follow the Party because the Party helps the People "protect their country and their village".
The People follow the Party because the Party commits to building a government that serves the People in managing, building and developing the People's country.
The 1946 Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, right in the Preamble, affirmed: "...To implement the strong and wise government of the People...". Through many amendments and supplements, the current Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam continues to affirm: "...The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a socialist rule of law state of the People, by the People, for the People...".
It can be seen that serving the People and the Fatherland is the only reason for the Communist Party of Vietnam to exist and maintain its role as a comprehensive leader of society to this day. In particular, the quality of Party members and cadres is the key factor for the socialist republic regime to last.
The country belongs to the People. The socialist republic regime can only exist if it is still trusted and supported by the People. General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, at the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, warned: "A party and each individual, who were great yesterday and had great appeal, may not necessarily be loved and praised by everyone today and tomorrow, if their hearts are no longer pure, if they fall into individualism."
President Ho Chi Minh himself - the founder of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in 1949, in the 6th Party Conference of Cadres, pointed out: "In front of the masses, we cannot just write the word "communist" on our foreheads to be loved by them. The masses only love those who have character and morality. To guide the people, we must set an example for others to follow. Many of our comrades have done so, but there are still some who are corrupt. The Party has the responsibility to cleanse those comrades..."
Today, in the joyful and excited atmosphere of the people of the whole country celebrating the National Day, somewhere in the press, media, and public opinion, there are still some sad features. There is still a large number of cadres and party members who have committed serious violations and have been disciplined, mainly for abusing their positions to embezzle the State budget and harass the People. That is a manifestation of the degeneration of the People's power of the Socialist Republic. Among them, there is the thought that, since they have held high power and important positions in the State system, no one can do anything to them.
Maybe they don't realize the difference between State and Country.
The country always belongs to the people!
As for the State - whether it is a republic or a feudal state, when the state power degenerates, it will be overthrown by the People:
or will be defeated in the war against invasion. King Tran Quoc Tuan once warned the Tran Dynasty's army:
".... Being a court general, serving the barbarians without feeling angry; listening to the imperial court music and entertaining the false envoys without feeling resentful. Some people find cockfighting fun; some people enjoy gambling. Some people take care of their gardens and fields to support their families; some people cling to their wives and children to satisfy their selfish desires. Some people plan their career and forget about the country; some people are addicted to hunting and neglect military affairs. Some people like fine wine; some people are addicted to nonsense. If suddenly the Mongols invade... our lord and his subjects are all captured, how painful it would be..." (Proclamation to Generals and Soldiers - Tran Quoc Tuan)
That is the eternal law.
Returning to September 2nd, for the past 75 years, every National Day, in solemn state-level rallies, we have shouted the slogan:
That was truly the wish of the People.
But whether the slogan becomes reality or not depends first of all on the actions of the Communist Party of Vietnam and each party member participating in the state administration.
The country always belongs to the people.
The People still have firm faith in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. And, the People always follow the Party's work of building and self-rectification to constantly strengthen that faith./.
