Offering incense to commemorate Nguyen Trai's death anniversary

On the morning of September 30 (August 16 of the lunar calendar), at the Con Son relic site, the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival solemnly held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 581st death anniversary of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai (1442-2023).

Also attending were a number of comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, departments, branches, and organizations of the province, leaders of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, along with a large number of people and tourists.

In the sacred atmosphere of Con Son mountains and forests, with the fragrant incense smoke spreading, delegates, people and tourists listened to Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival, read a speech highlighting the great contributions of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai in the cause of protecting and building the country.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that for a long time, in the minds of the people of the whole country, when talking about Con Son, people remember Nguyen Trai, remember the shining Sao Khue in the history of the Vietnamese nation. With Con Son - the land that was attached to him during his childhood years and also the place where he hid, "contemplated the present, thought about the past, considered all the reasons for prosperity and decline" to later write Binh Ngo Sach, outlining the path to fight the enemy to save the country and liberate the nation.

During the reign of King Le Thai Tong, Nguyen Trai was assigned by the King to oversee the Northeast. Con Son was also the place where he built his house, ground ink and wrote many valuable works of history, literature, philosophy, military, diplomacy, and became precious legacies for posterity. The most typical of which is “Con Son Ca”, until now, no other literati or writer has written about Con Son better than this.

He also contributed to the restoration and expansion of Con Son Pagoda, turning it into a famous scenic spot. Nguyen Trai is not only a shining star in the sky of Vietnam but is also respected by humanity, shining on all five continents. Nguyen Trai was honored as a World Cultural Celebrity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of his birth.

Nguyen Trai Temple - "Uc Trai Linh Tu" has long been a meeting place for generations of people who deeply engrave the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source". Remembering Uc Trai, we all see the great responsibility in promoting the unique and globally outstanding cultural heritage values ​​of the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site, the thoughts and eternal values ​​of the National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai. This is an important component of the dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex that the three provinces of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh and Bac Giang are submitting to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site.

The memorial service for the death anniversary of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai is one of the prominent and important events at the annual Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival. The activity demonstrates respect for history, national pride, moral education of drinking water and remembering its source, and honoring the ancestors who have made great contributions to the country of the cadres and people of Hai Duong province.

Nguyen Trai, whose pen name was Uc Trai, was born in 1380 in Thang Long citadel. His father was Nguyen Phi Khanh, originally from Chi Ngai village (now Cong Hoa ward, Chi Linh city), then moved to Ngoc Oi village (now Nhi Khe commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi city). His mother was Tran Thi Thai - daughter of the mandarin Tu Do Tran Nguyen Dan. Nguyen Trai spent his childhood with his maternal grandfather in Thang Long and Con Son. Nguyen Trai was soon famous for his talent, virtue and great ambition. In 1400, he passed the Thai Hoc Sinh exam, the following year he took up the position of Chief of the Royal Censorate under the Ho Dynasty. From 1407, our country was under the domination of the Ming invaders, Nguyen Trai went to Lam Son to gather the righteous, presented the Binh Ngo book, devoted his heart and soul to helping Binh Dinh King Le Loi. He became the soul of the resistance against the Ming invaders, liberating the country in the 15th century. After the victory of the resistance, Nguyen Trai wrote the Proclamation of Victory over the Wu - an immortal Declaration of Independence, a masterpiece of heroic literature that skillfully summarized the great resistance of the nation.
