Offering incense to the founder of embroidery Le Cong Hanh

On July 29, at Tu Thi communal house, people of Hang Gai ward held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 362nd death anniversary of the founder of embroidery Le Cong Hanh.

Mr. Le Cong Hanh was born in 1606, his name was Tran Quoc Khai when he was young, he was from Quat Dong village, Thuong Tin district (now Hanoi). He passed the doctoral exam under King Le Than Tong (in 1637), and was appointed by the royal court to the position of Minister of Public Works. In 1646, Tran Quoc Khai was sent to China as an envoy. Being intelligent and quick-witted, he learned the sophisticated techniques of embroidery and parasol making, and taught these crafts to the people. Due to his many achievements, he was awarded the title of Kim Tu Vinh Loc Dai Phu by the royal court, the position of Left Minister of Public Works, the title of Thanh Luong Marquis, and the king granted him the national surname. Therefore, he was named Le Cong Hanh.

In the communal house, there is still a stone stele titled "Ban thi tien cong liet vi" which means: "Listing the names of the meritorious people of this town" erected on October 11, the 3rd year of the Thanh Thai Dynasty (1891).
