Besides "Detective Conan: Scarlet Bullet", the weekend theater also has "Double Love" with the theme of youth pursuing passion and the action-comedy "Super Boss."
Detective Conan returns and attracts the most attention at the weekend box office
After a series of martial arts films dominated the box office last week, this week's cinema has three new works, outstanding in many genres to serve the audience; including the Conan movie "movie 24" bringing 8X, 9X back to their childhood, a Korean film for the young group pursuing their passion and career, and a purely entertaining American action film about an assassin who constantly dies and comes back to life while searching for the reason why he is being hunted.

“Detective Conan: Scarlet Bullet” or “Movie 24” as fans call it to distinguish the feature films from the multi-episode TV series, marks the return of the “movies” after two years since part 23 - “The Fist of Blue Sapphire” was released in 2019.
"Movie 24" brings together a fairly complete cast of characters from the group of young detectives, Ran-Mori and her friend Sonoko, to the FBI and the Akai family.
Fans commented that the plot of “Movie 24” still had many flaws and was not reasonable, but still appreciated the entertainment aspect and gave the film a lot of favor. The title “The Scarlet Bullet” marked the harmonious coordination of the two “silver bullets” Shuichi Akai and the young detective Conan, especially attracting the interest of a large number of readers who love this couple.
The film is set when Japan has just hosted the opening ceremony of a world sports festival and launched a new type of vacuum-powered bullet train. At the same time, a series of faces of big brands and businesses have disappeared. Conan realizes the coincidence and connects it to the kidnapping cases 15 years ago to find out the truth of the matter.
Along with him, the “silver bullet” Akai Shuichi will be solving the case, and his blood relationship with many other characters in the film/story will also be revealed. The film has earned more than 2 billion VND after special screenings on April 21, will continue to be shown early from April 22 and will officially be released nationwide on April 23.
Finding the reason for being hunted
While most action movie protagonists are being hunted down for revenge or for hindering their missions, agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) in “The Final Boss” is still dying and coming back to life every day for… unknown reasons. Dragged into a time loop by Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson), Roy is repeatedly killed in a tragic way but cannot die and always wakes up the same morning, facing the same pursuit.

Realizing that only his girlfriend Jemma (Naomi Watts) can help him escape this ironic situation, Roy takes advantage of the endless time of the loop to learn more fighting skills, begins to rescue the girl from a mysterious situation, gradually ready to confront Colonel Ventor.
Like many other action movies, “The Ultimate Boss” focuses on entertainment instead of logic or plot to bring funny details, directing the audience to focus on remarkable fighting scenes, suitable for weekend relaxation.
Journey of youth efforts
“Double Patty” (English title: "Double Patty") is a light-hearted comedy about the desire to achieve success of young people with lots of hope and enthusiasm. The film revolves around Hyun Ji (Irene of Red Velvet) - a fresh graduate with the ambition to become a famous female announcer and Woo Ram - a young wrestler whose performance has declined due to injury played by Shin Seung Ho.

When they met at the exact moment of their lost and uncertain youth, Hyun Ji and Woo Ram became companions and guided each other through many difficulties. Gradually, they both helped each other overcome everything to fulfill their own desires.
The film also raises many questions for young people regarding the pursuit of passion, one of which is to continue the bumpy road or choose a stable path. The message in the film is simple but conveys positivity: “Try your best, whether you can do it or not.”
Last weekend, the action-martial arts trio “Face Off: 48 Hours,” “Mortal Kombat” from the US, and “Clone” from South Korea grossed a total of nearly VND46 billion. “Face Off: 48 Hours” was the only Vietnamese film in the group, but it brought in an impressive VND43 billion, according to data from Box Office Vietnam. The series is still being shown along with new movies in theaters to serve audiences this weekend. |
