However, when arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, they were taken by a criminal gang to eat, stay and work at a villa in Binh Trung Tay ward (Thu Duc city).
The job of these people is to call many people in Malaysia and other countries pretending to be from courts, prosecutors, police... according to pre-existing scenarios to scam people.
Every month, they are provided with food, accommodation and a salary of 20 million VND by the ringleaders.
During the time this gang was operating, Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated to exchange information with the ASEAN Police Association (ASEANAPOL) to discover their residence and raided them red-handed.
After completing the procedures and handling violations of foreigners entering, practicing or having other activities in Vietnam without permission from competent authorities, Ho Chi Minh City Police applied an additional penalty of deportation to Malaysia.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Police have coordinated with police forces of other countries to control and prevent many gangs operating fraudulently in Vietnam.
