A flock of storks has settled and reproduced in Con Kiem - one of the sites in the Kiep Bac relic site (Chi Linh, Hai Duong). It is estimated that the flock currently has about 2,000 storks.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Duoc Son Village, Hung Dao Commune (Chi Linh), Con Kiem has never had a flock of thousands of storks like it does now.

For local people, the fact that flocks of storks choose sacred land to nest is a special phenomenon, a good omen and also shows that the living environment here is very balanced and peaceful.

When they first came here to nest, the flock of storks only had a few hundred birds. Some people came to Con Kiem to hunt, but were promptly stopped by the authorities and local people. Duoc Son village assigned the Cua Chua residential area to establish a self-management team, put up signs prohibiting hunting, and took turns day and night to look after and protect the flock of storks.

Trees and vines on Con Kiem Island grow to create an ideal habitat for flocks of storks to breed and develop.

The trees and vines on Con Kiem grow densely and lushly, creating favorable conditions for the storks to nest and breed. It is estimated that the flock of storks on Con Kiem currently has about 2,000 birds.

According to the reporter's investigation, the flock of storks gathered at Con Kiem about 5 years ago. This is a white stork, one of the common bird species in Vietnam, living in swamps and wetlands. Con Kiem is located in the middle of the Thuong River (also known as Luc Dau Giang), so it is suitable for the growth and development of the flock of storks.

A fisherman in the Con Kiem area said that the storks are close to the people here, not "shy" like other natural birds. People are very happy because the storks create a charming natural landscape for this land.

In addition to Con Kiem, Hai Duong has long been famous for the Stork Island eco-tourism area in Chi Lang Nam commune (Thanh Mien) with about 20,000 storks and herons living there.

Con Kiem is a sandbank about 200 meters long, emerging in the middle of Luc Dau Giang River. This is one of 26 relic sites belonging to the Con Son - Kiep Bac special national relic site. Legend has it that this is where Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan left the magic sword that helped him and his Tran Dynasty soldiers defeat the Yuan - Mongol army.
