This spring, the eightieth spring. The peach tree in To Hieu blooms, in the red address. Still the same bright color, still the same brilliant color.

This spring, the eightieth spring
Peach tree in To Hieu blooms, red address (*)
Still a bright color, still a brilliant color
Still loyal.

Overcoming prison, hell on earth
Communists believe strongly
The tree will last forever, giving fragrant flowers and sweet fruit.
As the truth of life - the revolution will succeed.

And the peach tree To Hieu has bloomed many seasons
From the first spring of independence to the spring of national reunification…
Each milestone - a flower season - sends a wish
This spring - the country is prosperous.

One more time bowing to the loyal soldiers
In the dark, there is still hope for a brighter day.
The revolutionary road is never smooth.
Resilience brings seasons of flowers.

Spring At Ty 2025

(*) To Hieu was born in 1912, from Van Giang (Hung Yen). He was a staunch communist soldier, imprisoned and exiled by the French in Son La Prison. He died in Son La Prison in 1944, at the age of 32. He loved and cared for the peach tree in the prison grounds. To commemorate and admire his revolutionary spirit, in 1945 his fellow communist prisoners named this peach tree the To Hieu peach tree.
