Stories of Tet past and present in the program "I am Vietnamese"

Being Vietnamese, there is always a hidden vein of longing for ancestors, roots… regardless of age, gender or living abroad… every time Tet comes, that “hidden vein” is more intense than ever. There is nothing better than when the whole family gathers together on Tet, there is nothing better than sharing the sad and happy stories of the old year and hoping for the best for the new year. This is also the main message of the program “I am Vietnamese”.

"I am Vietnamese" recalls and honors the traditional values ​​of Vietnamese people celebrating Tet, which are reunion and sharing. Especially the custom of ancestor worship, remembering the origin during Tet. The program also recreates the custom of making Chung cake and Day cake to offer to the Hung Kings in Phu Tho.

The program is a story that runs through the main theme of the traditional cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people celebrating Tet, with a comparison between the old and new Tet. The reports in the program are stories about the famous Quang Phu Cau incense making village in Hanoi on the days before Tet to listen to the artisans of the craft village talk about the traditional incense making profession, about the meaning of the incense stick as a sacred bridge between the real life of humans and the spiritual world of heaven and earth... as well as the morality of drinking water, remembering the source, remembering ancestors through the incense stick placed on the altar on Tet.
