"Carp watching the moon" or "Carp watching the moon" is a famous painting of the Hang Trong folk painting genre. This year, this painting has been recreated in the poetic rice fields of Tam Coc (Ninh Binh).
The painting depicts two carps playing under the moonlight. The main material used to create the image is rice plants, with the wish for a year of peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and bountiful harvests.
This impressive work of art is depicted on a rice field of over 9,500 square meters. This place is honored as one of the five most beautiful rice fields in Vietnam.

Before planting rice, farmers in Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, worked with experts to calculate the time to plant rice and create shapes to create this vivid picture. Thanks to the uneven time to plant rice, when the rice is ripe, there will be green and yellow patches, making the picture more prominent.
In feng shui, carp has great significance. Carp is associated with the image of "carp jumping over the dragon gate". Therefore, the painting "Carp admiring the moon" represents aspiration, effort and strong will to overcome all difficulties to reach success.
The image of carp is also a symbol of luck and good things. Through the idea of the painting "Ly Ngu Vong Nguyet" which is depicted using the material of rice plants, local people pray for a year of peace and prosperity, favorable weather and bountiful crops.
Another very important message conveyed through this painting is the wish that farmers, together with the government, participate in preserving the cultural and natural values of the heritage to exploit community tourism. This is also an important basis for Ninh Binh to develop sustainable tourism.
On May 26, speaking to reporters, Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that during the "Tam Coc Golden Color" tourism week in 2022, Ninh Binh welcomed over 396,000 visitors, of which 85,000 were visitors to Tam Coc. This year, Tam Coc tourist area is expected to welcome 100,000 visitors, the whole province is estimated to welcome over 400,000 visitors.
Previously, the ripe rice fields with the shape of "Tam Coc Golden Color" in 2022 made an impression on domestic and foreign tourists.
The 2023 "Golden Colors of Tam Coc - Trang An" tourism week takes place from May 27 to June 4. Visitors will be able to take a boat ride along the winding Ngo Dong River and admire the ripe rice fields in Tam Coc.
