It is forecasted that from now until September 2024, there will be 5-7 storms/tropical depressions, of which 2-3 will make landfall in our country.

It is forecasted that around June 22-23, a low pressure area will form in the North and Central East Sea. The probability is about 65-75% of strengthening into a tropical depression and about 20-30% of strengthening into a storm.

Around June 23-25, the tropical depression/storm is likely to directly affect the Northern and Central regions of the East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago) and the Gulf of Tonkin.

Due to the influence of the low pressure area, which may later strengthen into a tropical depression/storm, the weather in the North and Central East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) from June 23 to 25 will turn bad.

In addition, currently, due to the influence of the southwest monsoon, which is tending to be active, in the central and southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa archipelago), the sea from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, there will be showers and strong thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7, be careful of wave heights sometimes increasing to over 2 m.

The sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau and the sea area west of the South China Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa island) has strong southwest wind level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough sea; waves from 1.5 - 2.5m high.

According to experts, ENSO is currently in a neutral phase. It is forecasted that from July to September 2024, ENSO is likely to transition to La Nina with a probability of 65 - 75%.

From now until September 2024, there is a possibility of about 5-7 storms/tropical depressions appearing in the East Sea; of which about 2-3 will make landfall (the average number of storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea during this period is 6-7, the average number of storms/tropical depressions making landfall in Vietnam over many years). Be on guard against the possibility of storms/tropical depressions forming right in the East Sea area.

There is still a possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind across the country.
