30 key dike points need protection

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development identified Hai Duong as having 30 key dike areas that need to develop protection plans in 2023.

Ngoc Tri sluice on the right dike of Lai Vu river, Cong Hoa commune (Nam Sach) has degraded and is a key provincial disaster prevention point.

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just approved a plan to protect key dykes; a plan to maintain the entire dyke line and respond to floods exceeding the design frequency in 2023 in Hai Duong.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate regular inspection, review, and detection of new vulnerable locations (if any), promptly adjust and supplement key dike protection plans and dike protection plans, ensuring feasibility and compliance with regulations. District-level plans are approved by the District People's Committee, following the 4-on-the-spot motto (on-site materials, on-site forces, on-site command, and on-site logistics); at the same time, organize training and drills on dike protection work appropriate to the actual situation.

Organize inspections of the exploitation and use of sluices under the dikes in the area, strictly comply with the operating procedures for opening and closing sluices; conduct general inspections of cage fish farming activities on rivers, request cage fish farming households to proactively monitor weather and hydrological developments, and have plans to ensure safety during the rainy and stormy season.

List of 30 key dike points that need protection

For projects related to dikes that are under construction, investors are required to direct contractors to focus all resources to speed up construction progress, strive to complete the project before the rainy season and ensure the safety of the project when storms occur.

In 2023, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development identified 30 key dike areas in Hai Duong that need to develop protection plans. Of which, there are 3 provincial-level key areas: protecting Ngoc Tri sluice at km2+828 of the right-hand dike of Lai Vu river, Cong Hoa commune (Nam Sach); handling the silt at km53-km57 of the left-hand dike of Thai Binh river, Thanh Ha district; protecting Dua A sluice at km43+743 of the right-hand dike of Thai Binh river, Chi Minh commune (Tu Ky) and 27 district-level key areas.
