In the morning of 30 September (15 Aug. Lunar Calendar), in Con Son Relic area, the Provincial People’s Committee held solemn ceremony to commemorate 570 years of the death of the National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai.
At exact 7 o’clock, at the sanctuary of Con Son Pagoda, ceremonies of prayers and procession to Nguyen Trai Temple took place. The procession was solemnly held with Buddhist and traditional rituals, strongly spiritual character, festive colour.
Addressing the commemoration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Organization Committee for welcoming certificate of special national relic and Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2012, highlighted the significance and importance of Con Son land in the history, the outstanding merits of the National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai, the nation’s prominent politician, militarist, diplomat and culturist. For Nguyen Trai, Con Son is not only his native land but also the place of his childhood, the place where he hid himself to write “Binh Ngo Book” of national liberation. Con Son is also the place where he lived when retiring, built a house, ground ink, wrote works of great values in terms of history, literature, philosophy, military, diplomacy, constituting precious legacies for future generations. In addition, he contributed to the renovation, expansion of Con Son Pagoda, which has become a tourist attraction. In 1980, on the 600th anniversary of Nguyen Trai’s birth, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honoured him as the World Cultural Celebrity.

The speech also stressed: To bring into full play the cultural heritage of Nguyen Trai Celebrity, in 2000, Hai Duong’s Party organization and people started the construction of the Temple of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai in Con Son. The construction work has become an important item of Con Son – Kiep Bac relic complex. On 10 May 2012, Con Son - Kiep Bac relic was ranked as special national relic by the Prime Minister's decision. Each of us is required to understand the great responsibility in the promotion of cultural heritage of Con Son - Kiep Bac relic in general, the cultural heritage of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai in particular, to continue with the practical work in preservation and promotion of the value of Con Son - Kiep Bac historical and cultural relic, the tourist attraction.

After the oration, the leaders of the province, people and tourists lighted incense sticks to commemorate the National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai, visited and offered incense in commemoration at Prime Minister Tran Nguyen Dan Temple, Con Son Pagoda.
In the evening of the same day, on the yard of Nguyen Trai Temple, Con Son Night of Poetry and Mid-Autumn Festival took place. At 19 o'clock, at Kiep Bac on the yard of main temple, there was performance of waiting on saints with the participation of 15 delegations inside and outside the province. At 22 o'clock of the same day, seal opening ceremony took place at the inner part of Kiep Bac Temple. |
