Restoring Tram Gian pagoda

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hien surveys Tram Gian pagoda in Nam Sach district

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council, on June 19 afternoon surveyed Long Dong temple and Tram Gian pagoda in Nam Sach district.

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee asked the provincial People's Committee to direct review and collection of historical materials, study to plan and restore Tram Gian pagoda, and propose a restoration plan in the direction of fully reestablishing 100 compartments.

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee stressed that though having special historical, cultural, and architectural values and a beautiful landscape, Tram Gian pagoda is still unknown. Therefore, it is necessary to promote propaganda to lure visitors.

After having seen ancient woodblocks kept at the pagoda, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee recommended the pagoda and relevant units to immediately work out a preservation plan and avoid woodworm.

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee also surveyed the construction site of Mac Thi Buoi martyr memorial temple in the precinct of Long Dong temple.

Tram Gian pagoda was built in the Dinh dynasty.

Long Dong temple, a symbol of studiousness, worships Mac Dinh Chi, first doctoral laureate of both Vietnam and China and a famous talented and righteous person of Vietnam, and other laureates in former examinations like Mac Hien Tich and Mac Kien Quang.

Both relics have been classified as national ones. They store remarkable historical, cultural, and traditional values of the locality.

In 2019, the two sites were recognized as tourist attractions by the provincial People's Committee.
