The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is completing the application to request Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize the Cao Temple Festival in An Lac ward (Chi Linh) and Tranh Temple Festival in Dong Tam commune (Ninh Giang) as National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Cao Temple is a historical relic associated with the triumphs of 5 Generals of the Vuong Family who helped King Le Dai Hanh to defeat the Tong invaders in the 10th century.
Tranh Temple, also known as the temple of Great Mandarin Tuan Tranh, according to folk beliefs, is a temple to worship the water god, the 5th son of King Thuy Te who helped people do business prosperity. Many people believe that the temple is very sacred and often come here to pray for good luck.
Both festivals retain their unique cultural features and customs.
