Chi Linh holds New-year Writing Starting Ceremony

Activities honoring learning, the value of books, and knowledge have contributed to developing a learning society, fostering the national sap, and making the country prosperous and peaceful.

Chi Linh provincial town authorities held the 2019 Ky Hoi New-year Writing Starting Ceremony and coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications to kick off the 2019 Spring Book Festival on February 12 morning (i.e. the 8th day of the 1st lunar month).

Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Letters and Arts Association Tran Huu Son and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Anh Cuong attended the event.

In a sacred atmosphere, a sacrifice team offered incense and delivered a speech to commemorate the merit of and express gratitude to Chu Van An, a great teacher of Vietnam.

Then, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Town People's Committee Nguyen Van Huynh delivered a speech and drummed to begin new-year writing and the Spring Book Festival.

The speech affirmed that the organization of the ceremony and festival was a practical deed showing the tradition uong nuoc nho nguon (when drinking water, remember its origin) and ton su trong dao (venerating teachers and morality) of the Vietnamese nation.

The activities also showed Vietnamese descendants' respect for those making great contributions to Vietnamese education.

At the ceremony, a representative of the Hai Duong Chinese and Chinese-transcribed Vietnamese Calligraphy Club wrote the Chinese characters 慶, 盛, 繁, and 榮 to begin new-year writing. Central and local delegates started new-year writing in Vietnamese, cut the ribbon to kick off the 2019 Spring Book Festival, and offered incense at Chu Van An temple.

On this occasion, the Department of Information and Communications presented a bookcase to Chu Van An Primary School, and Hai Duong branch of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and Bac Hai Duong Bank for Investment and Development donated VND50 million each to the Learning Encouragement Fund of Chi Linh provincial town.
