A ceremony to mark the 714th death anniversary of National Hero Tran Hung Dao and open the autumn festival was solemnly held on the morning of September 10 (the 17th day of the 8th lunar month) at Kiep Bac temple (Hai Duong province). Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan attended the event.
Mr. Nguyen Van Que, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Board of the 2014 Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival, delivered the festival opening speech, highlighting National Hero, Grand Lord Hung Dao Tran Quoc Tuan's great contributions to Vietnam's three struggles against Yuan – Mongol invaders.
After the literature oration reading ritual, Central and provincial leaders cut the ribbon to inaugurate the repair work of Kiep Bac temple and joined numerous visitors from near and far in holding the ceremony of offering incense to Great Saint Tran in front of Bac house and the main temple.
The project of repairing and embellishing Kiep Bac temple had a total investment budget of over VND26 billion, VND18 billion of which was donated by the people.
After nearly one year of execution, the work was completed six months ahead of schedule, right on the occasion of the 714th death anniversary of National Hero Tran Hung Dao. This is the fourth great restoration of Kiep Bac relic site in history.
Also in the morning, the Battle Reenactment Festival jubilantly took place on the Luc Dau river, reproducing the sight of Tran Hung Dao reviewing his troops in 1285 with the involvement of 30 boat teams of fishermen from Kien Thuy (Hai Phong) and Kenh Giang (Chi Linh provincial town).

On Van Kiep riverbanks, there were dragon and unicorn dance, unarmed martial art, stick-fighting, and swordsmanship performances of 300 martial artists from Nhat Nam school.
* Earlier, the seal opening ceremony was held on the evening of September 9 (the 16th day of the 8th lunar month) inside Kiep Bac temple by the Organizing Board of the 2014 Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam was in attendance.

After completing rituals, Central and provincial leaders performed the decree issuance opening ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, seal impressions were bestowed on delegates, locals, and tourists from everywhere.

The seal opening ceremony at Kiep Bac temple is one of the successfully restored contents in the Project of Upgrading Con Son – Kiep Bac Festivals in the 2006 – 2010 Period.
At the annual Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival, the seal opening ceremony always attracts the participation of numerous locals and visitors.
