Mao Dien Literature Temple ranks third among Vietnam's five ancient literature temples

The Vietnam Book of Records has officially announced a group of five ancient temples of literature marking Vietnam's age-old education.

Mao Dien Literature Temple is a historical relic worshipping Confucius and honoring those passing major Confucian scholars and also was the regional examination venue for the people of the Eastern province – Hai Duong

Mao Dien Temple of Literature (Cam Dien commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province) ranks third after Quoc Tu Giam Temple of Literature (Ha Noi) and Xich Dang Temple of Literature (Hung Yen). They are followed by Van Thanh Temple (Thua Thien – Hue) and Tran Bien Temple of Literature (Bien Hoa, Dong Nai).

Mao Dien Literature Temple is a historical relic worshipping Confucius and honoring those passing major Confucian scholars and also was the regional examination venue for the people of the Eastern province – Hai Duong. Early in the 16th century, four national examinations were held at Mao Dien examination venue by the Mac dynasty.

During its existence, from a position of school of Hai Duong province alone, Mao Dien Temple of Literature became the examination venue of the whole region, contributing to the education and training of talents for the local areas as well as the country.

Mao Dien Temple of Literature was classified as a national historical relic in 1992.
