US stocks reverse after rising more than 3% in early session

After rising more than 3%, major indexes on the US stock market reversed when the White House said it would maintain its plan to raise taxes from April 9.

$5 trillion evaporated from the US stock market

Stock markets fell sharply after China announced an additional 34% import tax on goods from the US. Investors feared that escalating trade tensions would cause a return to high inflation in the US and push the country into recession.
The US will negotiate with all trading partners on tariff reduction measures.

Countries will have to change their rules to allow more imports of US products to lessen the impact of these tariffs, according to US Commerce Secretary Lutnick.
