Cuba struggles to stabilize power system after fourth nationwide blackout
As Cuba's National Electric System (SEN) continues to experience problems, the government is working to restore and stabilize power after the fourth nationwide blackout in just six months.
Absolutely no power shortage in 2025
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the need to increase the power capacity by 2,200-2,500MW is not a big problem and requested that there must be no power shortage in 2025.

The 500kV line circuit 3 was inaugurated on August 29, beginning its mission of increasing the power transmission capacity from the Central region to the North from 2,200 MW to 5,000 MW.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with relevant ministries, branches and units on the situation of electricity production and supply to serve production, business, socio-economic development and consumption of people and enterprises, especially during the peak electricity consumption months of 2024 and the following years.
To prevent power shortages, large enterprises in Hai Duong reduce peak hours usage.
It is forecasted that this summer, temperatures will rise, and the power supply to serve the needs of the North will not change much, and there is a high possibility of power shortages during peak times. Businesses need to change their production habits and reduce electricity use during peak hours.
