More than 500 cases, 3 children died, Ho Chi Minh City announced measles epidemic
Ho Chi Minh City has just officially announced a measles epidemic amid a rapid increase in the number of cases and three deaths.

Today, August 27, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy signed a decision to declare a measles epidemic on a city-wide scale.
Accordingly, measles is a group B infectious disease. People at risk of contracting the disease are those who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated. The disease can lead to serious complications and even death if not properly cared for and treated. Measles is transmitted through the respiratory tract from person to person.
To prevent and control measles, Ho Chi Minh City has strengthened the Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control of the city, districts, Thu Duc City, wards, communes and towns.
Cases of measles or suspected measles must make full and accurate declarations to health authorities within 24 hours of diagnosis to be managed and tested according to regulations.
The city will carry out a campaign to vaccinate all children aged 1-5 years old living in the area, regardless of previous vaccination history; the age range may be expanded depending on the epidemic situation in accordance with regulations.
Organize admission, treatment, care, medical isolation and disease control in the community according to professional instructions of the Ministry of Health.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, last week, 85 cases of rash fever suspected of measles were recorded in Ho Chi Minh City. Of these, 20 were positive, 44 cases did not have samples taken, and 17 cases have no results yet.
The total number of suspected measles rash fever cases accumulated from the beginning of the year to last week is 525 cases, with 3 deaths.
