Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs responds to Hai Duong voters' petition on adjusting regional minimum wages
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just issued a document responding to the petition of voters in Hai Duong province regarding the adjustment of regional minimum wages.
Previously, voters in Hai Duong province requested the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to study and propose increasing the regional minimum wage to meet the basic living needs of workers, especially the low-skilled group because this group has the largest number.
Responding to this content, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that Article 91 of the Labor Code stipulates that the minimum wage is adjusted based on the minimum living standards of workers and their families; the correlation between the minimum wage and the market wage; the consumer price index, economic growth rate; the relationship between labor supply and demand; employment and unemployment; labor productivity; and the payment capacity of enterprises.
The Government decides and announces regional minimum wages based on recommendations from the National Wage Council.
In 2024, the Government issued Decree 74/2024/ND-CP, which adjusted the regional minimum wage to increase by an average of 6% from July 1, 2024.
Current regional minimum wages are: Region I 4,960,000 VND/month, Region II 4,410,000 VND/month, Region III 3,860,000/month, Region IV 3,450,000/month.
