There are many ways to check for signs that your tires need to be replaced.

How to determine when to replace tires

Visual observation

If the car shows signs such as damaged tire valve caps, uneven tire tread wear, very little tread left, not sharp, when the tire tread is only about 1.6 - 3mm, it means the tire is worn and needs to be replaced.

Some car tires have small wear indicators located between the tread grooves. When these become visible, it's time to replace them.

The sidewalls of the tires are under great pressure when the entire weight of the vehicle presses down on the road and the air is pushed to both sides of the wheels. If the sidewalls of the tires are punctured or have been hit hard, or have cuts or scratches due to long-term contact with the road, they need to be replaced or patched before the punctures or cuts become deeper.

If the tire is bulging, peeling, or deformed, it means that there has been a change in the internal structure or the tire has any holes with a diameter of about 6mm and the bead part that contacts the rim is damaged, the car owner needs to change the tire quickly to avoid tire explosion while driving.

Based on time, climate

The life of a car tire is usually 5 years, so after 5 years, the car owner should change the tire and check it once a year. In the case of a car that is nearly 10 years old, even if it still runs well and the tire shows no signs of damage or the tire tread has not worn down to the tread wear indicator line, it should still be checked because the tire may have some aging or structural problems that are difficult to detect with the naked eye.

Vehicles often move in harsh climates: harsh sunlight, humid rain, high road and air temperatures or snow and ice, tires are prone to rubber wear and need to be checked for replacement or patching soon.

Driver's feeling

When driving and detecting unusual noise or vibration from the steering wheel, the car does not run smoothly, this is a sign of damage or punctured tires, you need to go to the nearest tire repair facility or replace the tire with a new one.

Measuring with tools

Based on the tire tread depth measuring tool, if the depth is less than 3mm, it is time for a new tire.

How to maintain tires to prolong their life

Look at the tire manufacturing date embossed on the surface and read the specifications depending on the vehicle model. Check the tires periodically as recommended.

Do not drive too fast or brake suddenly. Avoid damaged roads, potholes, and potholes. Do not exceed the allowable load, especially for trucks because the high pressure on the wheels will increase friction and cause the tires to wear out quickly.

Do not inflate and use the vehicle with under-inflated tires or flat wheels, because uneven tire contact with the road surface will cause uneven wear.

Use season-appropriate tires such as summer tires not for driving on slippery, icy roads. Choose tires that are appropriate for the road surface such as emphasizing good traction when driving on highways, steep, rough roads.

Replace the spare tire immediately if you feel any abnormality while driving, then have the tire checked at the dealer.

Choose tires from reputable brands, do not buy cheap, poor quality tires because you will have to replace or patch them often.
