Parents of class 5A3, Hoang Mai Primary School, Hanoi, received certificates from the parents' committee, evening of May 29.

Ms. Thuy said this was the last meeting of parents of class 12A5, FPT High School Da Nang, on May 19. Each student brought a certificate of merit to their parents' seats to give, making everyone emotional.

In Hanoi, Mr. Giang, the father of a student in class 5A3 at Hoang Mai Primary School, also had this joy. At the class's closing ceremony on May 29, he and 12 parents were invited to the stage to receive certificates from the parents' committee with humorous titles.

"I am the 'parent whose child makes the whole class happy'," said Giang. "My son 'talks across continents', making the whole class lively." Another person was awarded the title of "great motorbike taxi driver" for always supporting other parents if they are busy and cannot pick up and drop off their children. Some were awarded the title of "raising healthy, beautiful children" or "saving a lot of money on clothes" because their children are a bit underweight...

"Everyone laughed out loud," said Giang.

Also in Hanoi, Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Quynh was honored as the "most knowledgeable parent" because she regularly gives books to students in class 6NK1, Be Van Dan Secondary School, Dong Da District. In addition to her, the class also has a "secret rich man" because he always sponsors activities or the "mother with the most milk" because he often buys milk tea for students.

"I don't think children can think of so many nicknames for their parents. They are so cute and meaningful," said Quynh.

According to teachers, the practice of giving certificates to parents has been around for about 2 years now, in many schools. In addition to showing gratitude to parents, this also brings laughter and humor to the meeting. The idea can be proposed by teachers and students or the parent committee.

The certificate of "Hardworking motorbike taxi driver of the year" Ms. Thuy received at the year-end parent meeting on May 19.

According to Ms. Nguyen Hang Nga, head of the parents' committee of class 5A3, Hoang Mai Primary School, the parents have been close and attached to each other for many years. Therefore, they want their children's farewell gala to be meaningful and joyful. In addition to the usual activities, the parents' committee secretly planned to "commend" parents who have made an impression or contributed to the class. The class has 36 students but only has 13 certificates, to symbolize the children's year of birth 2013.

Ms. Nga gave an example of Mr. Giang, who is loved for always bringing everyone closer together and making the whole class laugh. Or another parent who lives near the school, willing to become a "transporter" when needed...

"When they were called up to the stage, the parents were confused and didn't understand what was going on. When the title was read, everyone burst out laughing," Ms. Nga recalled.

In class 12A5, Da Nang High School, homeroom teacher Vu Thi Xuan Thu wanted the final parent-teacher meeting to be a bonding event, for students to express their feelings for their parents. Based on her advice, the students created a sample certificate and printed it with the class's bonus money. Each student gave their parents a nickname, such as "tycoon", "landlord", "ATM" or "patient person", filled out the paper and signed it.

During the meeting, after many activities, the children gave gifts to their parents, then hugged and said thank you.

"Parents see their children's maturity and are happy to receive gifts from them," said Ms. Thu.

Reading the certificate, Ms. Thuy was moved when her child expressed gratitude to her parents for taking her to and from school all year long. For Ms. Quynh, the idea of the teacher and student turned the normal parent-teacher meeting into a meeting and celebration.

Mr. Giang believes that giving certificates of merit to parents can be organized at the end-of-year party, creating a bond between parents and joy for the children.

"This activity should be done at the end of the year to be more meaningful," said Mr. Giang.
