Twin brothers in Ninh Giang volunteered to join the army
Phung Van Manh and Phung Van Khoe, born in 2005 in Dong Cao village, Dong Xuyen commune (Ninh Giang, Hai Duong) are the only twin brothers in the district who volunteered to join the army.

The first impression when we met Phung Van Manh and Phung Van Khoe was that they were two friendly, studious young men. Although they were only 18 years old, when we talked, I found them to be quite mature compared to their peers.
In a cozy little house with all the family members and representatives of the local Party Committee and government coming to encourage and visit, Khoe confided: “Since I was in school, I have loved wearing military uniforms to participate in military lessons. Performing military service is also the responsibility of all young people, so after finishing grade 12, I discussed with my brother about writing an application to join the army. Since we were young, we have been together everywhere, so when my brother heard my intention, he immediately agreed.”
When hearing the wishes of the two children, Mr. Phung Van Thang, the father of the two brothers, was very surprised. Mr. Thang shared: “I am both happy and worried. I am happy because my children are young but have mature thinking, are aware of their duties and responsibilities, and live with ambitions and ideals, but I am worried because they have never been away from their families, will they be able to be independent and adapt to the disciplined environment in the military? However, seeing their determination, my wife and I also support them. I hope that when the two brothers join the army, they will be assigned to the same unit so that they can support and help each other during their training and work.”
With the support of their families, Manh and Khoe volunteered to join the army together. Luckily, after completing the preliminary and selection examinations, both brothers met the requirements to join the army this time.
Eagerly waiting for the day to put on their military uniforms, but due to their family's financial situation, before joining the army, the two brothers applied for jobs at a teddy bear manufacturing company near their home to earn extra income to help their parents. The two brothers used part of their earnings to buy new clothes for their grandmother, parents and younger sister, and used the rest for household expenses.
This year, Ninh Giang district has over 200 young men participating in military service. Among them, Phung Van Manh and Phung Van Khoe are the only brothers in the district who volunteered to join the army.
The military enlistment day is approaching. These days, Manh and Khoe's family is always happy and proud when they often receive encouragement and inquiries from leaders of the Party Committee, government, local organizations and relatives and friends. That is the motivation for Manh and Khoe to be more confident in fulfilling their sacred duty to the Fatherland.
