The three industries with increased employment demand are forecasted to increase by 1.8% in food production and processing; 1.6% in electrical equipment production; and 1.6% in leather and related products production.
Industries that could see job losses include printing and copying of records of all kinds, down 13%; specialized construction activities down 5.4% and electrical equipment manufacturing, down 3.2%.
The whole country has 52.5 million people participating in the labor force, of which about 51.5 million people are employed; about 1.06 million people are unemployed, a decrease of 160,000 people compared to the third quarter of 2023.
The average income of workers is 7.3 million VND/month, an increase of 180,000 VND compared to the previous quarter.
In addition, the sectors with employment fluctuations were processing and manufacturing industry, up 75,000 people; agriculture, forestry and fishery up 57,000 people; other service activities up 39,000 people; education and training up 27,000 people; health care and social assistance activities up 18,000 people.
According to the Center for Human Resources Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City, in the first quarter of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City needs about 77,500-86,000 jobs. Of which, the trade - service sector accounts for 72.63%; industry - construction accounts for 27.23%; agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 0.14%. In terms of professional qualifications, the demand for trained human resources is 68,604-76,128 jobs, accounting for 88.52%; of which, university level or higher accounts for 22.08%, college accounts for 21.19%, intermediate level accounts for 25.84%, and primary level accounts for 19.41%.
In Hanoi, a representative of the Hanoi Employment Service Center said that in 2024, the labor market is on the path to recovery under the attention of many policies from the Government. According to the Center, there are signs that the labor market is improving. Businesses are actively recruiting.
