Russian Prime Minister to visit China

RIA Novosti news agency quoted an announcement from the Kremlin on May 19 saying that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay an official visit to China from May 23-24.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. This is Mishustin's first visit to China as Russian Prime Minister.

According to the Kremlin, during the talks, the two sides will discuss economic and trade cooperation, especially in the fields of industry, energy, transport infrastructure and agriculture. Prime Minister Mishustin will also visit Shanghai and speak at a Russian-Chinese business forum. Leaders of many leading Russian and Chinese companies will attend the event.

The Russian Prime Minister's visit comes as Moscow and Beijing have been steadily strengthening cooperation in many areas in recent years. Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow in March and held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
