GDP in the first quarter is estimated to increase by 3.32%

According to the General Statistics Office released this morning, March 29, the gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2023 is estimated to increase by 3.32% over the same period last year, just higher than the growth rate of 3.21% in the first quarter of 2020 in the period 2011-2023. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 2.52%, contributing 8.85% to the overall growth rate; the industry and construction sector decreased by 0.4%, decreasing by 4.76%; the service sector increased by 6.79%, contributing 95.91%.
Regarding the economic structure in the first quarter of 2023, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounted for 11.66%; the industry and construction sector accounted for 35.47%; the service sector accounted for 43.65%; product taxes minus product subsidies accounted for 9.22%. The corresponding structure for the same period in 2022 was 11.57%; 37.08%; 42.06%; 9.29%.
Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year increased in 58 localities and decreased in 5 localities nationwide.
The General Statistics Office said that the consumer price index (CPI) in March 2023 decreased by 0.23% compared to the previous month. Compared to December 2022, the CPI in March 2023 increased by 0.74% and compared to the same period last year increased by 3.35%. In the first quarter of 2023, the CPI increased by 4.18% compared to the same period last year; core inflation increased by 5.01%.
