Promoting connectivity between the three economies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the regards and congratulations of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister Hun Sen and senior leaders of Laos and Cambodia on the occasion of the traditional New Year of the two countries.
In a friendly and cordial atmosphere, the three Prime Ministers informed each other about the recent socio-economic development of each country, as well as discussed areas of cooperation between the three countries and international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The three Prime Ministers highly appreciated the maintenance of regular high-level contacts and exchanges on all channels, including meetings between the three Prime Ministers to continuously strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation among the three countries; agreed to coordinate to implement the results achieved at the Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos Summit between the highest leaders of the three parties in Hanoi (September 2021); and highly appreciated the organization of many meaningful activities within the framework of the "Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022" and "Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Year 2022", contributing to raising awareness of the people, especially the young generation of each country, about the tradition of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam - Laos and Vietnam - Cambodia.
At the meeting, the three Prime Ministers agreed to promote cooperation connecting the three economies, support each other in building an independent, self-reliant economy, deeply, substantially and effectively integrating into the international community; create more favorable conditions for investment and business cooperation activities of enterprises of the three countries; encourage border trade and promote the land border gate system between the three countries; share experiences in law-making, management and effective use of official development assistance (ODA).
The Prime Ministers said that in the context of the global economy continuing to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner, with the rapid development and profound impacts of digital technology and social networks, the three countries need to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of information technology.
Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone once again congratulated Cambodia on successfully assuming the role of Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the 2022 Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Southeast Asian Nations and firmly believed that Cambodia would successfully organize the 32nd SEA Games and the upcoming election of the 7th National Assembly.
The three Prime Ministers affirmed that they will continue to coordinate closely on regional and international issues, contributing to maintaining and consolidating solidarity, unity and the central role of ASEAN; agreed to strengthen sub-regional cooperation with the process of building the ASEAN Community for the goal of equitable and sustainable development, narrowing the development gap and promoting ASEAN connectivity; welcomed the three countries' agreement to hold the first Summit of the Three National Assemblies in Laos in 2023 and to hold the 12th Summit on the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle in Cambodia.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Hun Sen continued to affirm their support for Laos to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024.
