Mr. Vuong has loved and been passionate about collecting ancient coins since he was a child. Currently, he owns a collection of more than 10,000 ancient banknotes.
The collection includes Vietnamese banknotes and coins from many historical periods. The banknotes are divided into different periods.
Among them is the 50 dong note - one of the only banknotes in Vietnam with a picture of President Ho Chi Minh smiling.
This is a 50 Dong Nam Bo note (consumed in the Southern region), issued in 1949. The back of the note has the image "Great National Unity".
"Money is not just a bill but also contains historical and cultural stories associated with each period of the nation," Mr. Vuong shared.
When the internet was not developed, hunting for ancient coins was very difficult.
After playing for a long time, he learned about the source of goods and connected with people with the same passion, making it easier to exchange and enrich his collection.
Currently, the most valuable banknote in Mr. Chinh Vuong's collection is the Thanh Thai Hai Phong banknote, issued by the French colonialists in 1903.
This banknote is mainly used for circulation at Hai Phong port. Currently, the banknote is valued at nearly 300 million VND.
In addition, there are banknotes in circulation from 1920 and 1925 valued from 100 to 200 million VND each.
Many rare banknotes have been graded by PMG. PMG is a company that specializes in counterfeit testing and grading of paper money around the world, with the aim of confirming the reliability and value of the banknotes.
"There are no specific regulations for valuing ancient banknotes, but it can be based on their value, rarity, origin or condition," said Mr. Chinh Vuong.
