The area of Da Lat, Lam Dong province will change from 393 km2 to more than 1,700 km2, after merging Lac Duong district.
On September 25, Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed and issued a plan to implement the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels in the 2023-2025 period in the province.
With the issued plan, the district-level administrative unit will have the entire natural area and population of 3 districts, including Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien, merged into one district.
Lam Dong province also plans to merge the entire natural area and population of Lac Duong district into Da Lat city, with the goal of expanding the city's space. More specifically, the area of Da Lat will increase from 393 km2 to more than 1,700 km2 after merging Lac Duong district (more than 1,300 km2) into this locality.
In addition, the province also adjusted 5 communes of Bao Lam district, including Loc Tan, Loc Thanh, Loc Nam, Loc An and Tan Lac into Bao Loc city to expand urban space.
During this period, the locality also adjusted and merged the entire natural area and population of Trieu Hai commune into Quang Tri commune, Da Teh district, because it did not meet the criteria on population and area. Similarly, Quang Lap commune was merged into Pró commune of Don Duong district.
According to the roadmap to 2025, the newly formed units after the 2023-2025 phase arrangement will successfully organize Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.
At the same time, the province will continue to resolve redundant regimes and policies at agencies, organizations, units and redundant people after the Party Congresses at district and commune levels for the 2025-2030 term in district and commune administrative units formed after the 2023-2025 period.
Da Lat is a city of Lam Dong province, with a hilly terrain. The highland city was formed 130 years ago when doctor Alexandre Yersin set foot on the Lam Vien plateau.
