Impressive voluntary blood donation movement in Hai Duong

Exceeded target

As of December 13, Hai Duong had organized 85 blood donations, collecting more than 24,532 units of blood. In the remaining half of December, the province will organize 4 more blood donations at a number of universities and businesses, expecting to collect at least 1,500 more units. "This year, the voluntary blood donation movement in Hai Duong continues to spread strongly. The whole province is estimated to collect about 26,000 units of blood, exceeding the target assigned by the province by 7,000 units and the target assigned by the Central Government by 10,000 units," informed Ms. Nguyen Thi Mung, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hai Duong province.

Up to this point, all 12 districts, towns and cities in the province have exceeded the assigned targets for humanitarian blood donation. Of which, 8 localities exceeded the targets by 50% or more, typically Kinh Mon town collected 2,126 units (assigned 1,000 units), Chi Linh city 1,800 units (assigned 1,000 units), Hai Duong city 1,600 units (assigned 1,100 units)...

The leader of the provincial Red Cross Society said that in recent years, Hai Duong has always been among the top provinces and cities that have collected the most blood units. This year, the province is at the top of the emulation cluster of the provinces in the Red River Delta in terms of this result. The humanitarian blood donation movement has always received the attention and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the active participation and response of sectors, agencies, units and enterprises from the province to the grassroots. Many heads of agencies and units have taken the lead in donating blood, some of whom have donated dozens of times. The increasingly innovative propaganda and mobilization work has had a positive impact on the awareness, consciousness and sense of responsibility of all classes of people.

This year, the humanitarian blood donation movement in Hai Duong has been expanded and developed in the business sector. To date, the Red Cross at all levels has coordinated with nearly 10 businesses to organize this activity, collecting about 3,000 units of blood, an increase of 500 units compared to 2022. The whole province has established an additional Live Blood Bank Club of Thanh Mien District Police.

Kinh Mon town has always exceeded the target of mobilizing humanitarian blood donations at a high level for many years. This is the first year that the locality has mobilized more than 2,000 units of blood. Chairwoman of the town's Red Cross Society Nguyen Thi Thuy said that the steps to implement the blood donation campaign in the locality are the same as in other places. However, in Kinh Mon, there are some differences: before the blood donation day, the leaders of the town's Red Cross Society coordinate directly to each village road, alley, and neighborhood to participate in mobile propaganda. The town stipulates that anyone who donates blood every 5 times, regardless of where they donate, as long as they have a certificate, will be rewarded. Once a year, the town organizes rewards for agencies, units, and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the humanitarian blood donation movement. "Therefore, the number of people in the town participating in blood donation is increasing day by day, the rate of repeat donors is always from 65-70% in each organization," Ms. Thuy informed.

"Go" into business

According to the plan, in 2024, Hai Duong strives to mobilize and collect at least 25,900 units of blood, the highest ever.

Mr. Nguyen Van The, Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Red Cross Society, said that next year, along with continuing to maintain blood donation campaigns in localities, agencies and traditional units, the Society will focus on spreading this activity to industrial zones and clusters. Actively coordinate with the Industrial Zone Management Board and the Provincial Federation of Labor to diversify forms of propaganda and mobilize workers to actively participate in blood donation. The Society will also send staff directly to enterprises with many workers to mobilize.

The Hai Duong Red Cross will study and encourage the establishment of fixed blood donation points and youth clubs to promote blood donation in districts, towns and cities next year. Continue to diversify forms of propaganda and mobilization through mass media, websites, social networks and open more mobile propaganda campaigns...

Along with the assignment of targets for mobilizing and receiving voluntary blood donations, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has requested agencies, units and localities to organize large-scale propaganda and mobilization campaigns to spread the movement and mobilize people of all walks of life to actively participate in blood donation - a noble gesture.
