Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival to be held on large scale

This year's Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival is to be held on a large scale in association with the 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Con Son (Hai Duong) with many activities taking place from March 4 - 7 (i.e. lunar January 14 - 17).

The contests of making chung cakes (square glutinous rice cakes) and day cakes (round glutinous rice cakes) are occurring on March 4.

On March 5, incense and chung and day cakes are being offered to Con Son pagoda, Tran Nguyen Dan and Kiep Bac temples, etc.

To take place on the main festival day, March 6, are the 5th Hai Duong Provincial Clay Firecracker Festival in the morning, the ground breaking ceremony for construction of Cuu Pham Lien Hoa (nine-storeyed lotus-shaped tower) in Con Son pagoda and the opening and competitions of a national wrestling tournament in the afternoon.

The 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Con Son and the opening of the 2015 Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival are to be solemnly organized on March 6 evening.

A sacrifice offering ritual on Ngu Nhac mountain and the summarization of the national wrestling tournament are taking place on March 7.

During the festival, many other cultural and art activities, folk games, traditional art performances, etc. will also be organized in Con Son and Kiep Bac.

The death anniversary of Venerable Huyen Quang, the Tertiary Patriarch of Truc Lam Zen, and Mong Son Thi Thuc ritual (requiem for forsaken spirits) are to be organized on March 13 in Con Son.
